'09 suburban T. case actuator motor question

Hey guys

Hope this is in the right place. Wife's '09 Suburban developed the dreaded 4x4 service light/ puts itself into 4wd L problem the other day.

I called the dealership to order parts this morning and the parts guy tells me they have the selector switch and actuator motor in stock......but even

if I replace those they won't work until I have the truck "reflashed" ?!!

Are there any Techs here on the forum who could shed a little light on this for me?
