A drill sergeant was training his corps of private officers in a military boot camp, leading them in grueling calisthenics, pushups, an obstacle course, and a 10-mile run.

After several hours of exercise, the sergeant was getting exhausted but still wanted his men to continue the workout. Wanting to be relieved, he whispered a request in his assistant's ear, and then retired to his barracks.

 

The assistant, appearing puzzled over the request, put the men at ease and proceeded to the toolshed for a power drill. He then went to the sergeant's barracks, where the sergeant was already asleep. The assistant plugged in and started the drill, aiming it between the sergeant's legs.

 

The sergeant, abruptly awakened, yelled, "What on Earth do you think you're doing?"

 

The assistant replied, "But sir, you told me to drill your privates while you took a nap."
