6.2 L Lifter Noise

Just had the truck(2012 GMC Yukon XL Denali with 125k) in for service due to ticking noise and was told the lifters and possibly the camshaft need to be replaced to the tune of $3500-5000.  Are there any other options to fix this issue ?

The shop  I hang with does a cam/lifter kit in the 5.3 for about 2500. Shop around a little more.  But you still have a used engine. If I am faced with this problem, I would look at a new engine like yours which is non-afm. Or consider a new or newer ride. Good luck.
