1989 C3500 odometer quit

Odometer stopped rolling in my 1989 C3500 454 with turbo 400 trans,(no overdrive). Neighbor has a cluster out of a 1990 C2500 that had a 350 with 700R4 trans with overdrive. Other than the gear selector being different is there any difference and if I swap it into my truck will it work with out any rewiring?

It depends if the cable from the 700R4 is mechanical or not.  My bet is for some reason they wont work.  Might want to start checking junkyards or just run it without an odometer.

Thanks for the reply, everything works but the odometer and I just keep up with the miles so I know when it's time to change the oil. A few mechanics around here say it wont work either. One says shift points would be different.  Another mechanic says he knows someone in the next town over who can fix this one but I have to take the cluster out and send it to him. My truck has over 200k miles and my neighbors did also when he junked it so I guess it's time for things to start breaking............RT
