Wheel Offset

What's the proper offset for 17 inch wheels if I go to 17"x7" where stock is 16"x6.5"?

Also, would 285/75/17 tires fit (with no lift, but minor torsion bar cranking) or would I have to get 285/70/17 tires? (i.e., 75 vs 70 aspect ratio).

Thanks in advance.

Im not sure what the stock offset is, but im sure its something like 5.5 or so.

most people with aftermarket wheels go to 4"-4.5" of offset.

I know people who have gone up to 305's without a lift, lol.

I think you should be ok with either size but be prepared to crank a bit.

The backspacing is around 5.5. Mine actually measured around 5 3/8 on my stock 16x7 aluminum wheels.

The stock off set is at or near +31 mm (or around 1 5/16 inch), from what I've read.

Backspacing is from the mounting surface of the wheel to the inner edge of the wheel.

Offset is the distance from the mounting pad to the centerline of the wheel.

- Positive offset is the mounting surface is forward of the centerline of the wheel, towards the outside of the vehicle.

- Negative offset is the mounting surface is behind the centerline of the wheel, towards the inside of the vehicle.
