Cargo rack for a Suburban

Recommended Posts

Anyone know of some decent looking yet functional cargo racks for a Suburban, the factory ones are a little weak and dont really have anything to keep stuff from sliding to the side, and they are kind of hard to strap to. Need them for long pieces of lumber and steel. The lumber I don't mind so much putting inside but the rear seat needs to be removed every time. The steel can do some damage. Also, My old Tahoe had a tail gate which I miss sometimes since the is no really good way to secure the large liftgate when hauling things longer then 8 feet. Nothing to tall as I am already close on the garage.

Suggestions appreciated.

The only thing I can think of are those "basket" type ones which look decent, but they wont' be able to hold long pieces of lumber. Other than that a pipe rack would be what you need, but those aren't exactly pretty to look at.

What if you custom made a bracket for the sides to keep the pices from sliding off? I don't think it would be too tricky and then they would also be removable to keep the height of the truck down.
