Help finding a lift

I have a 2003 1500HD 4X4 crew cab and am interested in a lift. I have considered a 3" body lift but I would much rather do a suspension lift. Some thing less than 6". I was thinking about a 4" lift or something like that. I am having trouble finding a lift for my truck. It seems like all the lift are for regular 1500's or 2wd?? Maybe I have been looking in the wrong places.

Thanks

All lifts companies make a lift for you. If my memory serves me correctly, a 2500LD lift also will work on the 1500HD's. I know Rancho, Superlift and.........RCD make lifts for the 1500HD's. RCD seems to be the most popular.

Thank you, your help it is greatly appreciated! I looked through the links you listed and the only MFG that I saw that offers a lift less then 6" for my truck was Rancho and it was $2K? Almost every one has a lift at 6" for $1K to $1500? Maybe I am going about this wrong?? I want to gain about 3" to 4" total. I am not totally against a body lift it’s just that I would prefer a suspension lift. If I did GREEN keys (I think I read some where that my truck would need green instead of ford keys not sure though) how much would that gain for me? Then maybe I could do helper springs, add a leaf or a larger block in the rear would that do the trick for me??

I see that it may not be very cost effective to do a suspension lift less than 6". I wouldn't mind lifting it so high that I would need a ladder to get in but the wife and kid would be a PIA. It looks to me that most people who want a lift less than 6” just do body lifts probably just for the cost body lift = $200 ~ $250 suspension lift $1K ~ $2K. Unless doing the key thing would get me what I want?? How much would getting the keys cost me? And would that even be an option?

Thanks,

Matt

Yes your right. Lift cost a lot. The best thing to do it call the places I listed in teh links. They hardly ever list everything they have in stock. As far as the GREEN Ford keys go. You will gain about 2-2.5 inches with them. But.........your ride will become firmer and be a little bouncy. Its not bad, but there is a difference. As far as costs go, the keys frun about $50 and you can get a 2 or 3 inch block for he rear for another $50. So that would be a very cost effective option. If you dont mind a change in your ride comfort.

I went to those links and looked some stuff up for you.

http://www.rockymountainsusp.com/GM_IFS.htm ( there is a 4" Trail Master for $1,263. Scroll almost all the way to the bottom.)

http://www.4wheelparts.com/product2.asp?im...ass=RAN&cat=SUS ( The 4" Rancho is only $1,483. I think you looked at the wrong price.)

Any other questions, let me know.

Your right I didn't scroll down far enough. I found the 2 lifts you’re talking about. Thanks! My problem is I want a functional lift but the reality is I probly don't need one. I checked out your pics on the web. Great looking truck!!! Your truck is perfect in height wish I could do the same but the family would be too much hassle, since we bought the crew cab hd for towing and long family trips. Wife says it’s not a toy! I say sure feels like one!!!!

Thanks for your help,

Matt

    • Yes, and also pulling heavy trailers or a large camper up steep grades as well as descending grades such as the more rustic off road camping locations and using engine braking with that low gearing as well as soft ground can just suck the power . I realize pickups these days tend to have an over all lower first gear ratio compared to automatic transmission pickups from years back so that has helped a lot in its ability in high range but there comes a point if in four wheel drive the torque runs out at the wheels, certainly with a gas engine. They don't put two speed transfer cases on pickups for a cool factor, they have a function if one needs that massive torque to the wheels that high range can't deliver.
    • Notes 7/18/2026   3,400 miles on this batch of Mobil 1 Euro 5W40 since the GDI pump replacement. Alcohol runs very clean when ring seal is tight and the sump isn't getting hosed with fuel. Checked oil level at fill up today as is my practice and grabbed a white Kleenex to look at the color. What color?  I was going to change it but.....
    • 4 low is really nice on steep boat ramps.
    • Interesting, I suspect I would have fueled up in Lee Vining as the day prior I would have filled up either in Laughlin or near there and maybe again before I entered Death Valley and once out the other side late that evening as I kept on driving into the night up near Lee Vining. Next morning I most likely fueled up in LV before heading over Tioga Pass into ( as I refer to it as "Yose .... Mite" 😁 ). And again that was 19 years ago but the price then must not have jumped out at me like the 5 bill a gallon theme of nutty cult hippy country Big Sir or head so far up their rear Aspen. I'd be curious to know where the highest prices are in the lower 48, I probably would not be far off to guess somewhere in Cali forn ie. Coldfoot and Prudhoe bay may have those prices beat but that is a whole other world up there and when prices are more normal elsewhere that is about what they can be up there I believe in no mans land. Anyway interesting that the 395 corridor is hosing people and the thing is, its tourist season and its not like there are a lot of competition options when driving up that highway from what I could see. Yup, big ole Boaterhomes and various other RV's ahead and behind me at the Yosemite entrance gate and they have to get their fuel somewhere.
    • Those can be high, as well as the big California cities. The ones that will pop your eyes out are the 395 corridor on the Eastern side of the Sierra Nevadas. Lee Vining, $7.19 for regular and $8.89 for diesel is what the Google said right now.
