CrewCab, ZQ8, I5, and... NO stick???

I've been lusting for this combination WITH the Aisin Warner Stickshift since the start of 2003. ALL of the literature mentioned stickshift STANDARD.

Just come find out recently the combo I will only buy HAS NO STICKSHIFT. A "sport truck" with NO stick shift???? Chevy amy as well stop selling the Tremecs in the Vettes because 95% of the buyers can't drive a stick too!

Sorry about the anger, but I'm venting. I've been waiting for sooo long to be happy with a GM product 100% and I thought I WAS THERE. Only to be shot down again!

When will GM realize their insane marketing is LOSING buyers? It's bad enough 90% of cars they purport to be "sporty" don't offer a stickshift at all, but now a TRUCK without stick?

What's even MORE innane is that the Regular AND Extended Cabs variants with the ZQ8 DO GET the stick... BUT not the CrewCab???? I guess once you have kids, you don't care for better mileage and also forget to drive a stick and use a clutch pedal.

I don't know what rock you have been under, but 'no stick for the crewcab' has been known for 6 months or more. While I too am disappointed by this news, if you look at the Toyota DoubleCab, and the Chevy S-10 crewcab, you will notice that only Automatics are offered in this type of configuration. I would also guess the same for Nissan.(but am unsure on their crewcab and do not feel the need to research it.)

So what you seek is the exception, not the norm.

You can get a five speed manual with the Dodge Dakota Quad Cab, and I did feel the need to research it. But i will buy the GMC Canyon anyway (later) then add the five speed when the auto tranny goes out. Then i will have a rare Canyon! J.D., KCK
