99 K3500 Tun Signal Indicator Lamp Issue

About a week ago, I bought a 99 K3500 with a 454,  5 speed. It was in decent shape, but deferentially used as a work truck. I've been going through it fixing little issues here and there and have been able to fix most of them but one has me stumped. My left turn signal indicator bulb has blown a couple of times. The actual turn signal lights outside work, front and back, but the lamp in the cluster keeps blowing the bulb, not a fuse. It didn't work when I got the truck so I replaced the indicator bulb and it lasted about a day. I'm pretty sure it needs a turn signal switch because the 4 way flasher button doesn't go down when you press it. Could that be causing the bulb to go out? From what I can tell, there isn't any aftermarket wiring on the truck or anything like that.  I've tried to do some searches but I'm not really coming up with a lot.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
