Thoughts? Intake port match?

Any reason why gen3 truck intake manifold gaskets are lopsided (asymmetrical)? The peak of the gasket is wonky and one side is slightly angled. There is a rather large 'step' from intake to gasket. Im a novice but from what ive read a 'step' isnt a good thing and will hurt airflow velocity.

Should i try to match my intake with the gasket to diminish air being trapped?

I can see the angled side being good for velocity sake, maybe pushing the air tword one side of the port creating swirl?

Gen 3 engines are cathedral port.  Use the appropriate matching gasket which would also be cathedral port.  Those are great heads but the newer Gen 4 square heads (LS3, L92, L96) out perform the cathedrals however.
