Just bought a 2020 Colorado Z71 with the trail runner special addition which includes off-road rocker protection part # 32413863. I want to add

 some kind of steps to it but leave the rocker protection bars on, some sites I have seen call them rock sliders. Any help will be appreciated.

Can't.  Have to remove the rock bars for steps to be installed.  

 

You can try to find a set of the GM offroad steps.  They have a protection tube and step sections that come off the tube.  22929605 is extended cab, 22929606 is crew cab.
