What percentage of a pay increase have you received over the past 2 years?

 

Were you happy with the amount?

 

I am trying to gauge how cheap my company is compared to others.

 

Or is everyone just thankful to have a job?

past too years we've had like 8-9% pay raise... but the military pays my salary

Well last year I took a pay cut of 2.5% and now this year I'm getting that back plus 7.5.

Zip.  Many local companies still having pay cuts, freezes, and layoffs.  Contractors are still being cut.  I think Ford & GM recently announced that they will restart increases for salary ees this summer.  The recovery in Michigan in high tech is virtual.  Most everyone I know who was cut in the last 6 months is still looking.  One guy (very technical) was cut loose last September and after months of looking in Michigan is now commuting to Phoenix.

I've had the same job for 12 years and the annual pay increase has varied between 4 and 9 percent.  Every several years they give us a little larger than average raise to keep up with the competition's salary in an attempt to keep us from leaving due to better paying jobs elsewhere.

What led me to ask this question?

If they actually paid me what I should get paid, I wouldn't complain. "Market value" for my job is anywhere from 32 - 45K depending on experience. I don't even make 30K yet, been on the job 3 years now!!! Wanna talk about pissed???

 

Last years raise - 2% cost of living - 1% performance. I'll be lucky to get that this year with the state budget cuts for education!!!

0%.  I work at a university and our budget has been cut by the Gov.

I just started working for the big boys last year.  Before that I was getting 10% annual raises from small firms.

 

Salary range for my level is 30,780 - 49,160

Market range - 25th percentile: 41,215 - 75 percentile: $46,649

I'm due a promotion in November, but now I'm hearing that the company is suspending all in-line promotions.  That will make over 2 years since I've had a raise and only one raise (~10%) in 3 years.  I'm not too happy with this place at the moment.  I'm due another 14%.

3 years ago I left a company that I had been with for 12 years.  I usually got about 4-5% every year.  I left the company because I felt that I was not getting what I was worth. I sent out 2 resumes and got a job that gave me a 26% raise.  After being with the new company for a year I got a 13% raise. I think the best thing to do is to look at what others in your field are making. Currently the economy is not as good as it was 3 years ago, at least not here in New Hampshire, so it might not be as easy to negotiate a huge salary increase. Good luck.
