99 Sierra fuel gauge

My 99 sierra with 98K miles has intermittent problem with gauge - shows low fuel light & gauge on empty. Will show correct reading on restart or sometimes after few minutes of run time. Can anyone offer some insight? First time it happened I thought someone siphoned my tank! :rolleyes:

I had that problem on my 99. Until it got to around 3/4 tank would show it as emply with the light on, eventhough it was full. after 3/4 would read fine. On mine was still under waranty from dealership(bought used), they replaced the sending unit and it has been fine ever since, this was about 1 1/2 yrs ago.
