Not much power under WOT in first gear only

So I’m hoping I can get some help with my 97 c1500 350 shorty. Under regular driving condition the truck runs and drives perfectly fine as it only has 64k miles. But in first gear with the pedal to the floor the truck feels like it’s holding back a lot of power until it shifts into 2nd gear. The rpms rise as they should and I don’t feel any hesitation or missing. Any suggestions?
