2019 GMC Canyon slt with 84168423 headlight switch

Does the 84168423 2 position headlight switch work with 1position for fog lights and other position for light bar work if so I need help. I got a 2019 GMC Canyon wiring manual showing parts layout,  wiring paths and connector pin out and shows the BCM module   I ordered the wire mod from harnessed to pin headlight Sw 6and9 to x1 pin 12 and x5 pin 5. From all that I have read on everything , does the mod that I want to do needs to be flash using a code in the BCM.  I do need some help and at this point I am so confused at all of this. I worked for 30 years in aircraft so pins crimping and following current path I know. Thank you Duane
