2007.5 sierra motor swap

i have a 2007.5 gmc sierra 1500 sle 2wd crew cab and the 4.8l v8 went out in it and i was wondering if a 5.3l would fit just plug and play or do i need to do any major changes to it?

It's not just plug and play because the 5.3 has AFM/DoD and the 4.8 does not. Your harness would require those connectors to make it and you must tune for it no matter what.

 

You could buy a 5.3 and remove the AFM parts too and then tune it.

 

Or just find another 2007.5-2009 4.8 to replace it with. Engines 2010+ have VVT (variable valve timing) and that would need to be removed before hand then replaced with a non VVT camshaft and front cover.
