2008 GMC Canyon electrical issue

I own a 2008 canyon.  I have an issue with, what I thought was the multifunction switch.    The cruise control works and bright/dimmer switch works.  The turn signal will intermediately speed up from a normal signal.  Instead of the normal clicking and flashing it will speed up.  The windshield wiper will kick on out of the blue and the wipers will go by them selves.  I replaced the switch. checked the ground.  Cleaned battery connections, checked the fuses.  It still does the same thing.  Any ideas?
