towing mirrors questions/problems?

they are the power/heated, w/ turn signal arrow, and are able to extend out.

 

Has anyone had any problems with the mirrors that electronically extend for towing not working, or one side working and the other not.

 

what operates the mirrors, is it like a gear or a belt?

About a month ago there was a thread in here about problems with the electric towing mirrors. It appears that you are not alone, and that GM has a little more R&D to do on these mirrors. The other members had them replaced at "No Charge" under warranty.

I have a set of the telescoping mirrors on my 2003 Silverado that I got used that were takeoff from a new 2003 pickup. The problem is only 1 of them will telescope without assisting them. I talked to my dealer about replacing them. I was informed that because they were not original equipment on my truck they will not Warranty them. So now I am stuck between a rock and a hard spot. I can't return them, and they do not work properly!!! If anyone has access to the TBS that tells about tightening the clutch, I would like a copy of it, Please. I need the mirrors for pulling my 5er.

Do these mirrors fold back? I need ones that fold as well as extend in order to get the truck into my garage. Please advise.
