What is TSB

Technical Service Bulletin

Sorry I should have explained what the Technical Service Bulletin is.

The bulletins cover service issues that have arisen in real world field use. For example, a dealer in BFE might notice that rough roads cause problems with a torsion bar fastener, and will alert all dealers to watch out for this.

Or something dramatic like engine failures are also reported this way. Usually, pretty mundane things get covered, like squeaks, rattles, and leaks.

There are also updates for software programming used in the PCM (Powertrain Control Module). Maybe there's a software glitch that causes ABS problems, or hot starting problems. These are rare problems, Thank God nobody would dare use Microsoft Windows to run a car!

GM TechLink is a monthly issue sent to all affiliated GM dealers, covering service questions and TSB's, though the TSB's are line-item and not in detail. You can find TechLink at:

http://service.gm.com:8083/gmtechlink/imag...t_mo/TLcme.html

You can order TSB's directly from GM or from:

http://www.alldata.com

All Data supplies TSB's to all makes, and for a one-time fee (For a particular TSB issue you have) they prove valuable. If you wish, you can also sign up for a yearly subscription to get ALL the TSB's you need.

Although it's nice to be informed, in all likelihood you will rarely need a TSB. Though there are some great tips. I know for my commercial equipment, the Eaton Dana TSB's save me a lot of time and trouble.
