? about installing short overhead console

Well, I think I will have all my parts this weekend to do some projects. (power windows, overhead console.) :lol: Anyway, I have a quick question about installing the short overhead console. My truck didn't come with one, but I have bought one to put in there. Do I need to cut out for the map lights to recess in the head liner or do they just squish up against the headliner. Seems like it would be hard to adjust them that way. Thanks.
