Gauge Installation

I'm installing gauges in a pillar mount. Western Diesel's instructions for the illumination bulb hot wire refers to a fuse labeled "ILLUM" which is for the dimmer switch on the insturment panel lights. This may apply to '03 and earlier models of the Duramax, but the '04 model has no such fuse labeled as such. Anyone out there know what fuse relates to the dimmer switch? I've examined the fuse box diagram and don'y see any that relate to illumination. Please advise.

I just spliced the wire from my dimmer dial on my dash....I believe mine was green, but it's an '02. Works like a charm.

I spliced mine into the dimmer as well. I can't remember which wire it was though, it has been almost a year for me.. Take the headlight switch assembly out so you can get to the back of it. If the 04 is like the 03, then meter the harness (plugged in of course) that is directly behind the dimmer wheel. Turn your lights on and move the dimmer wheel and check to see which wire shows the voltage change.
