PF-59 on 03 with 5.3

I thought awhile back it was said that you could use the PF-59 on the 03's instead of the 44, is that right ? Also was the 44 discontinued or GM say not to use that anymore ?

I need to check the PF59 out. The dealer told me they discontinued the PF44 filter and handed me a PF46 to use instead...

Is the PF59 bigger? I use to use a PF35 in my old 1989 C1500 and it worked great, then I switched to the "New and improved" PF1218 and the d**n things made the valves chatter. Back to the original PF35 and no problem.

I'm getting a little bit of valve-train noise with Syn. Mobil 1 5w-30 and the PF46's now... I think I'm gonna try one of the PF59's on my next change.

Thanks guys!

I use the Mobil 1 oil filter along with Mobil 1 synthetic 5W-30. How does the Mobil 1 filter compare to the PF filters?

This topic is being discussed in the HD forum as well. The PF46 did replace the PF44. You can find the PF46 at Murray's for a $1.50 cheaper than the stealership.

As far as using the PF59, the bonehead behind the counter at the dealership didn't know. But 1BADHD commented that he used the PF59 with no problems on his truck.

The PF59 is working great on mine. It is long enough to pass the oil pan so when you go to change it, it wont burn the snot out of your hands!

Awesome... If you can remember, how much more oil did you have to add with the PF59?

Thanks,

Will

I put in the 6 quarts and checked the stick. It was in the dead middle of the operating area.

Thanks man. I picked up the filter from autozone last night, I feel like an idiot for asking how much it would take now... lol. I expected it to be the size of the PF35 or something, it's only a couple inches longer.

Thanks for the reply!
