HEaring about the blue transfercase oil from one of the posters...

 

Question: What's is it... is it just a selling gimmic to buy the blue stuff from the dealer .... when they are the same as ATF with a different dye?

 

Anybody know?

The blue fluid is for the AutoTrak systems. (The full-time all wheel drive)

 

Not sure of the chemical make-up of it, but it is a more viscous oil to be able to be working all the time.

 

It may only be a marketing gimmick, but I'm not going to throw regular ATF in the next AutoTrak t-case to find out!!

This is no gimmick. If you have a round AUTO pushbutton you need to buy the stealer oil (blue stuff). I spoke with an AMSOIL rep and he said that GM has not released the performance requirements for this lubricant as of yet, so no one can say their stuff is okay to use. If you don't you can use what you like.
