Which Supercharger?

Anyone have a preference with personal experience for which supercharger is best for the 5.3 in a Silverado? Looking for anyone with experience in a 2004 5.3L. Quality and smoothness would be the characteristics I'm looking for. What do you prefer and how does it work for you?

Thanks

I have a 2003 Silverado w/ a 5.3L engine. I installed a Radix supercharger myself with the help of 2 friends in one day. Everyday drivability is the same as stock, can't even tell it's there. I average a little over 15 mpg with normal driving. I don't believe the reliability or longevity of the drive train suffers at all from the installation of the supercharger (I still expect the vehicle to last well over 100,000 miles with ease). The dealership I deal with knows the supercharger is there (all the techs oohed & aahed), but they continue to service it and have never breathed a word about voiding the original warranty (in fact the throttle body has been replaced under warranty since the supercharger has been installed).

As you can probably guess, I am completely satisfied with the unit and I endorse it as a satisfied customer. You won't go wrong if you decide to go with one of the Magnuson Radix units. If you decide to go with one, I will be glad to share my installation and operation experinces with you.

A Tad Late post here, but im gonna go ahead and reccomend the Twin Screw superhcrager from Whipple. It will work with your stock/modified engine with gains up to 50% all around. And if you want stealth, well whipple makes the quietist suerchargers on the market, and the install looks like its factory. It relatively cheap...$3,999 for a black one, $4,499 for a polished one. This includes EVERYTHING you need to install it. Can't wait to get mine.

Folks:

Go to the Whipple forum (especially page 2)at Superchargersonline Note all the Whipple problems; go to the Magnusson forum and note no problems.

Just my dos centavos, though!

Also note the terrible terrible HP gains by the magna charger compared to the whipple twin screw. Whoo-de-do somebody got a couple of bad lemons, doesn;t mean whipple is terrible. Still one of the top5 best superchargers on the market.

Folks:

Here are my numbers with a Radix on a 2003 Tahoe Z28:

2003 Tahoe Z71 5.3L Rear wheel Dyno Results

HP %Over Stock Torque % Over Stock

Stock 207 0% 275 0%

Magnacharger Tune 335 62% 401 46%

Magnacharger Tune 350 69% 384 40%

Wester's Tune 354 71% 425 55%

Wester's Tune 373 80% 410 49%

I really can not see what is wrong with these numbers!

And I absolutely agree Whipple is number 2 or3 , behind the Radix which is #1 of course!!

But, then that is just my dos centavos! And all of this is just like a Ford v Chevy debate there are no winners!

Regards,

Durkin :cheers::thumbs::cool::(
