Oil change every 12K?

Read this in the owner's manual, then it goes on to state to change at least every 3K in dusty conditions.  I have never seen a spread so far.  What do you guys do?  The usual 3K change?

I do it around every 3000 miles just to be safe, but if I would happen to not do it for, lets say 4000 or 5000 miles I would still not be concerned since the General himself says up to 12000 is normal.

kind of nice  :D

Mobil 1 and change every 5k miles.  The odometer is the best reminder for oil changes 5,10,15,20,25,30...155,160,165.

Even though you *probably* could trust synthetic to go 12K, I'd be nervous about the filter really.   ???  ???

I start getting up tight when I reach 5K w/ Mobil 1, but that's just me.  :D

BTW majestic02, welcome to the site and forum!!

Thanks for the welcome and all the replies guys!  I think I will stick to around every 5K or so.  I drive this thing about 130mi/day, so that should be a good interval for it.

I run Mobile 1 and still change my oil every 3K miles. Oil is alot cheaper then a new truck.

Thats exactly what I do.

Not a bad idea Mark, I think I might let this oil go 5K and get an anylasis done and see if I'll stick with it or not.

IM go 3,000 to 3,500.  I know alot of people who go 5K, but I've always been more comfortable with the 3K rule.

14,000 on mine right now.  Changed the filter at 12,000.  I am running Amsoil 5W-30 and have had zero problems going to extended intervals.

Just switched my wifes Trailblazer over also.  Recommendations in the TB owners manual are ridiculously longer than what everyone is accustom to.

Mileage is one factor, time is the other.  Even though the manual says 12K miles it also says "or 6 months whichever is sooner".  I know one guy wh actually went the 12K before the first change, of course that 12K took over 5 years to accumulate!  The engine was totally sludged.  The engine was replaced shortly after the first oil change.  One reason to check those ultra-low mileage cars out real closely.

My dad drives 143 miles a day, and when he his Grand Prix, he ran it 6000-7000 between changed, using Mobil 1 Synthetic(when he wasn't driveng it on the highway it was in the garage). The car just kept running better, and it never looked "too dark". that was green, hilly counrty he drove in, and wasn't very dusty though. But the manual said 7000 with regular oil(wee tried to hit 5000 with reg, wasn't too good)under his driving condidtion, and since he was running synthetic, it probably was better than every 3K in city conditions with reg oil.
