2004 shift timmings in Allison Trans

Is there any way you can reprogram the trans computer with 02 timings? Or could I swap the 04 trans comp. for an 02? I liked the way my 02 8.1 shifted better than my 04. The timings aren't as agressive. Any input would be appreciated. :troll:

Have you taken chip "learning" into account? It'll learn your driving habits and change the shift points to match it. If you drive hard, it'll shift harder and "learn" to do it. If you drive like an old lady, the truck will eventually feel like it too, for someone used to snappier change points. Do you have someone else in the family driving it hard "upsetting" what the computer is trying to learn from you?

Disconnect battery for 20-30min and you should be back at factory defaults. That'll not solve your problem, but it might at least put you back at a known baseline.

let me elaborate. The number one thing that bugs me is the shifting habits it has when cruise control is set. On the 02 it would only drop 2-3 mph before the trans would down shift. Now it waits until it looses 8mph to down shift the trans when towing a trailer going up a hill. After that it will wait 3 seconds and then shift into 3rd gear. If it would have just used 4th from the get-go, it would have never needed 3rd. Im tired of having to manually down shift the trans by pressing the OD lock out botton to get it to shift right.
