4l80e surges when downshifting from OD to 3rd

when going down hill at 65 mph, if i manually doen shift from OD to 3rd the vehicle begins to surge, lurch. even my wife/passengers can feel it.

it is under warranty but the vehicle only does it at operating temp and on downhill grades. I'ts goning to be a hassle getting the dealership to take 1.5 hours to drive the route and experience the problem.

There are no servcie codes being set.

Has any one else experienced this problem?

The fluid is at appropriate level and in good condition.

Water in the tank would cause other/additional problems.

Not always as it stays in bottom of take mostly and can slosh around and get picked up from time to time and you mentioned it did it going down hill.

Ok snoman, it sure can't hurt to pour in some water displacer and or drain the tank. Jack up the rear of the pickup. Extinguish cigar! Disconnect the fuel filter (haven't found it on this new unit) place drain pan and turn on the key!

I'll keep you posted.

I think I would try a few cans of fuel system cleaner in a tank of gas and run it low before you refill.
