Stupid Dealers

My patience is running thin with the new 2500hd. I drive the truck MAYBE 2 days a week. It has only 2100 miles on it, and I've had it since Feb.

Gone THREE times and cant duplicate the F'in problem..

1. Clunking in the steering (--It's the dam intermediate shaft). They say it includes the updated parts. My ass

2. Clunking/slamming while backing up. They claim it has the rubber spacers in the leaf springs, which it does, they cant duplicate it, and nothing else they can do.

3. Power steering whine when it is cold. Gee whiz, no wander why they cant duplicate the f'in problem -- It's a 30 min drive to the dealer and I'm sure the motor gets nice and HOT for them. :)

4. Tear in hood insulator. They say to return to the selling dealer. The selling dealer is shady and they'll probally change an alternator while they're under the hood. I've had lots of problems with them. Needless to say there was a very large argument before they SAID they would order it, AFTER they replace my transmission!

Yeah, the transmission. There is a recall for the OD lubrication. They told me they needed it for the weekend. Sorry, I'm goin out of town. Well, they tell me I can drive in 3rd gear and it would be fine. Don't think so. Maybe it'll burn up the transmission anyways and either way I'll end up with a new one.

BTW--It's an 8 hour job to "inspect" the transmission. I understand that it has to come out to be inspected, but I can get a transmission IN and OUT in less than 5 hours. God knows how long it will be if they have to order a transmission.

GM was great for my last 3 trucks but this is getting to be a d**n shame.

Have you tried calling a area rep? Many years ago when my my 89 GMC 4x4 burb was new, I have brake caliper sticking problems and took it to the dealer many times (one rotor turned blue from heat from caliper sticking) Dealer gave me run around and a rep can down and took me to another dealer and finial mostly fixed the problem by replacing calipers, lines in front and propertioning valve too. Any dealer has to fix any defect under warranty and you should also mention that dealer that refused you to area rep.

I'm going to take the rear brakes apart today and see what I can find. I'll take pics if necessary.

I gotta take it in Tuesday for the transmission. In the mean time I'm going to drive it normally. I haven't gotten a recall letter yet in 3 months, and towed about 8500lbs last weekend for about 100 miles with no problems.

I'm sorry to nit-pick, but that statement is incorrect.

At last I heard any Chevy brand dealer for chevy (or GMC dealer for a GMC) more than 25 miles from where you bought it has to fix it, they cannot refuse warranty claim. They may not want to if they think you are being a pain but they are bound to.

I know that Chevy or GMC dealerships cannot do any warranty work on each others vehicle's unless they call and get it OKed, and to get the go ahead, there needs to be a good reason, like your broke down in the middle of no where, and say your driving a GMC Sierra thats under warranty, and the only dealership within a 50 or 100 mile radius is a Chevy garage, then they would most likely give the OK to have your GMC repaired at the Chevy garage.
