Envoy exhaust

Ok I was looking under the Envoy the other day and saw this ugly (pos), sticking out from under it. And it goes with the exhaust and you can see it from the rear. Can I remove this and add an extention to the exhaust? Is it the resonator ?

Yup.....Thats the resonator...The muffler is right under passenger seat...bout 10 inches wide & 24" long...I've heard of guys removing the resonator only but then complain of a vibration type sound at around 2000RPM thats real annoying

Removing the fugly resonator will let you hear plenty of exhaust noise.

Must be the reason GM put it there to begin with. Back it the 60's and 70's a lot of cars used to come with them too.
