karld Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 I have a 99 sierra 2wd 4.8l and on hot starts the engine will start and the rpms will drop almost to the point of stalling then will find idle again, but slightly rough, but then will drive normally. I've got 53000 mi still on original plugs, fuel and air filter replaced annually since new.Any help?
Shaners Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 Possible fuel pressure regulator problem... It wouldn't hurt to change your filters though because your truck is 5 years old!
rcj_houston Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 Surging can also be caused by a bad or dirty EGR Valve. This has happened a few times to me on different brands of vehicles. Good luck and cheers
99-2door Posted July 9, 2004 Posted July 9, 2004 Pull the vacuum hose off the top of the Fuel Pressure regulator. If is wet on the end of the hose, like fuel is getting in there, then the regulator needs to be changed.
snoman Posted July 9, 2004 Posted July 9, 2004 I am wondering if his is having some fuel perculation in the fuel line under the hood that is causing the problem until it is purged
