First Oil Change

When you get a new vehicle when do you usually change the oil the first time? I usually do it around 1000 miles just in case there is any metal shavings in the oil. Just got my new Z71 a few weeks ago and wondered if I should continue with this trend.

I changed the oil for the first time at 2,000 miles in our new Suburban. Can't hurt and made me feel better. I'm old fashion. I'll change it when the oil monitor says to from here on out.

I would also go full synthetic and get rid of the dyno stuff.

Does GM fill synthetic at the factory now?

i understand and was told by the dealer, the differential is filled with synthetic at the factory. I dont believe the engine oil is.

I changed my wife's yukon oil for the first time the other day at 1400 miles. You need to use dyno oil for sometime before changing to the synth. where some wear will occur. I cannot remember for how long though, maybe someone else knows.
