Flares on a Yukon? How?

As some of you know, you cannot order a GMC Yukon with flares but yet I see some (very few) with flares on them.

 

The painted molding with chrome insert on the doors goes all the way to the rear wheel opening so how do the flares mount? Is different molding put on? Is the flare notched to fit over the molding?

I have a Yukon XL and I just odered them from the dealer and had them paint them.

Yukon XL (Suburban) is different because the rear doors don't adjoin the rear fender wheel like they do on a Yukon (Tahoe). The rear flares on a 4-door are 2 piece. Mabe they are just leaving the door piece off, although that might look bad.

 

I never noticed the trim on a yukon is different than a pick-up until you mentioned this. The pick-ups dont' have the painted portion of the trim.
