I have a 2000 Silverado and I have noticed the radio mysteriously switches from radio mode to the cd mode for a few seconds and then back to radio. It will never remain permanently on cd. The switch is random, not of the same duration and not in the same location---i.e., I do not think the problem is caused by random impluses from an outside source---if that was possible. Anyone else have this problem or advice on how to stop this---outside of a new radio? (There is no cd in the tray)

Had a similar problem in my 03 Sierra. Usually it would work 1 way - while playing a CD, the system would switch to the radio.

Took it to the dealer and the only solution was to replace the radio. If you're still under warranty, take it straight to the dealer.

Had the same problem on my radio. Would switch from CD to radio. The cd would get an error which would cause the unit to switch to radio, and sometimes ejecting the cd in the process. The dealer changed the radio under warranty. Seemed to fix the problem. MMM
