4L80E Transmission

Someone told me you could install a 4L80E transmission in a non computer truck and set it up as an electronic manual transmission. It this correct? If so how can I do this?

Russ, I may be wrong about this but I think that some of the companies that build performance transmissions (JET Performance, TCI) also provide electronic controllers for applications where there's no factory computer.

I'm sure some of our brethren will let us know soon!

I'm sure you could, with a full manual setup you would need a manual valve body kit, and some sort of electical device to signal manual gear changes.

That would be easier than a full auto where you would need some sort or device for throttle position, vacuum, and speed inputs.

I would go with a 200R4/(4R) before trying to get a 4L80E to work. Isn't the 200R4 the non electronic version of the 4L80E anywho??? Just like the 700R4 is a 4L60E...

Anywho, a 200R4 is a HEAVY DUTY transmission, much stronger than the 700/4L60.
