What axles come in the 2500 and 3500?

Also, does the 2500 and 3500 come with push button 4x4? What about transfer cases? I'm just wondering if theres a full floater rear and heavy duty front axle to swap in when I do a truck lift again. In my 86 Silverado, I just swapped in a 14bolt FF and a dana 44, piece of cake. I'm just wondering what my options are for lifting a newer model truck and still getting real stout axles underneath it.

Mines a 99 Z71 now, not sure if i'm gonna lift this one. Any information would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

My 03 Sierra 2500HD has a 11.5" full floater in the rear and a 9.25" IRS up front. and the push button (non auto-trac) transfer case. As far as I know the 2500 comes with the same axles and drivetrain.

On 80's stuff it was a lot easier, When I lifted an 80 Blazer I also put a 14 bolt full floater in the rear and a Dana 60 up front.

Wow, a 2500HD comes with that? Great, thats just what I wanted to hear. Diesel or gas, didn't matter? What does the 3500 come with, same thing? Does anyone have a 3500 with push button 4x4? What about a regular 2500?

Also, stock 99 Z71, 10 bolt, 8.5" front and rear right? Thanks bigdogs, I feel better now....

The "14 bolt" is actually a 10.5" rear end (altho they used to have a 9.5" semi floater one years ago too). My 11.5" rear axle may also have 14 bolts as well, I have not counted them. Yes it is the Duramax/Allison combo. The 3500's have the same axles and tranny, transfer case, etc...

DiegoYJ, sorry that was a typo ("F" and "R" are next to each other on the keyboard) Yes I meant it was IFS.

the AAM950, AAM1050, and AAM1150 all have 14 bolts.

the 9.5" semi floater is still being used (AAM950)

I was talking about the old corporate 14 bolt rear ends that came in 2 versions the 10.5" full floater and the 9.5" semi floater, although it seems that when most people mentioned a "14 bolt" they were talking about the 10.5" unit.

Are 11.5" rear ends on 6.0L HD's common? I changed my diff a while back and found i needed the 11.5" gasket for mine. Sorry for the hijack, but i figure seeing everyone with knowledge is here, why not ask. I'm sure i dont have the 8.1L...very odd...

1500HD/2500  AAM925 front, AAM950 Rear SF

2500HD(6.0L)  AAM925 front, AAM1050Rear FF

2500HD(DMax/8.1L)  AAM925 front, AAM1150 Rear FF

Two dealers I talked to said that they were certain that the 1500HDs (aka 2500s) had the 10.5" rear axles, same as with the 2500HDs with 6.0L. The only website I could find that has such a listing agrees: http://homepage.mac.com/darketernal/axles.html

The 2500HDs with the bigger engines have the 11.5" axles.

I assume that the 1500 LDs have the 9.5" axle.

Negative. 1500HD/2500 have the 9.5" 14bolt SF, H2 as well. 10.5's are FF. see my sig

11.5" is the size of the ring gear not the gasket.

And 1500 Silverados have a 8.6" 10 bolt front and rear right?

Now I'm assuming these are numbers for all the NBS.

What about OBS? Same question for 1996 to 99...
