Hope this is not a repeat,

But anyway our trucks will shift out of park in the accy poss without your foot on the brake, and will move. and Pray that everybody is out of the way.

So please set the E brake at all times.

Didn"t Ford have that problem about 20 years ago?

What years are affected? Is there a recall?

No recall it is normal from what GM said and not sure on the affected years but I have an 04 Silver and it does it.

Alot of good the NBS e-brakes will do. I adjust mine every time I have the rear wheels off. A few days later it will push to the floor and not hold the truck at all. Sounds like something the NHTSB should look into for a recall - both the shifting out of park and the inadequate e-brakes.

We had a problem in our '01 Suburban where the shifter would not shift out of park. It wouldn't shift with the truck running and the brake depressed. I was told by GM that the shift interlock switch was probably bad and to bypass it, I could turn the key to accessory and shift it. It worked. So, I guess being able to shift like that can be a problem, but it also helps as in my situation.

My 2000 NBS Tahoe doesn't do that.

The NHTSB is already looking into the E-brakes. One of GM's response to the E-Brakes going bad so fast was "we are not responsible for owners taking their vehicles into areas where things like dirt, sand, or salt can get into the brake system." Well it was atleast worded close to that, go to the NHTSB website and look up our trucks and you can read all about it. And in 50% the country if you drive in the winter you will encounter sand or salt, and plus WTH is the 4x4 system on my truck good for if I can't take if offroad because parts will fail?

I know this has been asked a thousand times, but, where can I get the text on TSB's like the one above? I would like to read this one. Thanks.

Huh, weird. My 04 does it. I don't need my brake on to shift into drive. My 00 S10 you had to have the brake on first. Doesn't really matter to me I guess, just a safety issue.

I know this is off subject but my dad's got a 05 dodge magnum and his will come out of park for no reason. Dodge says it's not an issue, well it sure is an issue if your car starts rolling down the hill. I was talking to one of the dodge techs and he says several of their new styles have the problem. Don't feel bad our Chevy's aren't the only ones doing it.
