I was talked into getting 4" MB Quart Reference series speakers for the dash...

d**n they sound good.

But as far as install...I was told I could make the plates myself, is it hard and what does it take to make the plates??? Needs to fit 4x6 hole BTW

Thanks!!!

Man...I'm really not the guy to ask questions like that...I buy stuff that fits. :D

It shouldn't be too hard to make something if you have the proper tools, and capabilities.

You could use sheet steel, or a very strong plastic laminate...Although you would be hard-pressed to find a laminate strong enough, and still thin enough to fit under a grill and still look decent.

I would say go look around a few audio forums, and ask them...I really don't follow the stereo world very closely, and am not into custom installs like a lot of folks are...Heck, somebody probably makes an adapter plate just for your application. But I wouldn't know about it.

Sorry, I can't be of much help. If you lived next door to me, I could probably fab something up. But without the vehicle sitting in my garage for a day or so...I really can't help you much.

I would go to a local hobby shop. You may even have a HobbyTownUSA somewhere near you. They carry small pieces of plywood, about 12" x 14" or so in various thicknesses. I replaced a pair of 5x7's in an Cougar I ownered. I got 2 pieces of these used the original speakers as a template and put a 5 1/4 components set in place. Worked great.
