Tahoe brakes assisted by power steering

Hi all,

I have a question about the power brakes on my 02 Tahoe LT. My power brakes

on my tahoe are vaccum assist. Today I went to the car show in San Francisco

and looked over an 05 tahoe LT. I spotted, when looking under the hood, that it

had power steering assist brakes. Does anyone know if this is a new feature

on Tahoes. I thought that Suburbans were the only ones with ps assist for brakes?

Thanks

Joe

HydroBoost! On several trucks 03~05.

There's a campaign to recall some due to a seal problem also...

(If a truck's VIN serial number series was on this list, they would have contacted the owner(s) already...)

Thanks. So Hydroboost was introducted to Tahoe on 03, the year

after I bought my truck. Does anyone have any comments about

what hydroboost does for braking performance? Any real life

experiences?

Thanks

theyre real touchy, i slammed on them a while back and locked up the fronts and probably the backs, really good fro towing, they make a weird whining sound on start up though

My dad has a 97 K3500 6.5 TD with the hydro-boost,

brother has a 96 c3500 454 with hydro-boost.

They both leak.

However my dad had a 94 K3500 before that and it never leaked.

I love the hydro-boost, as soon as I get around to it I am upgrading my 99 Tahoe to it. The brakes are so much better.

My '02 1500HD has Hydroboost with no leaks or other problems at all. It stops so much better than any Vacuum assist I've ever driven.

All the ones I ahve seen that leak work absolutely fine. You just have to refill the PS fluid pretty often. The fluid makes a mess in the engine compartment below the booster.

Not really a safety issue as long as you keep the fluid filled.
