Biggest bang for the buck?

I have been considering a few things to modify on my truck. What will give me the most power gains for the dollar? My Silverado is all stock except for the air filter.

Would a PCM reflash be the one?

Absolutely! Contact PCMforLess and get a custom tune! Bryan worked wonders for my truck! First I did the bolt ons- Intake, Shorty headers, cat-back...slight improvement, but mainly asthetics and noise. Next I did the cam and springs. Tried compensating for the factory tune with a handheld...got it close, but no cigar. Finally I called Bryan at PCMforLess, and holy cow!!! He brought my truck to life, and actually optimized all of my previous modifications...all for only$250! I have thousands invested in all of that other stuff! If I would have went to Bryan first, I could have used that other money on a cowl hood and Katzkin seat covers! (well, I still would have done the other bolt ons, cause I do like the added noise and asthetics)

But definitely the best bang for the buck, hands down! :ughdance:

I would do a PCM, but I would make a list of everything you want to do and start collecting parts. Once you have them all begin installation. If you do your PCM now, you may have to do it over again after some mods. Just a thought.

I sent Bryan an email and he answered my questions. Looks like I may be getting a dual 87/89 octane tune with a percentage of the torque management removal. 250 bucks is inexpensive compaired to the "other" guys.

Thanks friends

I talked to Bryan today and he seems to know what he is talking about. The "dual octane" tune is a buzz word. You really can't tune for 2 different octanes. He said one of the "other guys" coined the term. What happens if I get an 89 tune and put in 87 octane the knock sensor kicks it down a notch when the motor starts knocking to accomidate the lessor grade fuel. The same goes for a 91 octane tune.

Today I had the stock muffler replaced with a MagnaFlow muffler, dual in sigle out. Tomorrow I hope to order an 89 octane tuned PCM from PCMforless.

Thanks for the help..

I installed a Westers PCM over the weekend - 87 / 91 tune set up for perf and towing. I can't get this stupid smile off my face.

Yea, that's exactly right. There are different octane tables in the PCM...when knock is detected, the PCM switches to the lower octane table which pulls timing to try and reduce knock.
