Question-EGR valve gasket/electrical disconnect

Recommended Posts

Posted

I am pulling the EGR valve on a 4800 01 Tahoe (throwing codes). I am going to attempt to clean it instead of buying a new one as recommended on this site (Thanks for the advise and hopefully saving$$$)

I received the replacement gasket today (part #12558353).

Do I need to use any other gasket type seal/bonding after reinstalling or will the replacement gasket seal ok?

Where exactly does the electrical disconnect from the egr valve? (Is it on top of the valve or an in line disconnect?

This is probably "The profound grasping of the obvious" for most or as my eight year old says "Like Duh!"

Thank You,

Jerry

I didnt even put on a new gasket, but i would not use anything in addition to the new one.

If you look at the EGR, it will be a Duh  its a smaller 2 prong plug, pull the little tab, and pop it off. Real easy! Should be on front passanger side...

Mike,

Thanks. I had just went back out to the garage to take another look. The clip is on the back side of it (facing firewall/driver's side.. I just couldn't see it from the front passenger side. Didn't want to cause more problems than I was trying to fix.

Thanks alot.

I made my replacement gaskets from flexible graphoil gasketing. good for 1800 degree F.

I made 2 gaskets to sandwich the blocker plate for the EGR Mod that is popular.

a little trial and error to get the correct size holes to not throw any codes.
