Wanting to Install a Bose System in an S-10 . . .

:chevy: I have a '02 Chevy S-10 in which the stock GM Delco CD player died. I found a great deal on a GM Delco Bose CD player #15073309. I installed the unit using the existing wiring harness, but the sound was horrible - scratchy and very little volume. Does anyone know what else I might need to make this work properly? Amp? Speakers? Anything?

Unfortunately I believe this is the expected result for installing a Bose player in a non-Bose setup. Cheapest method is probably to sell the Bose player and find a non-Bose player on ebay...I think they tend to go for less than $100, and you'll probably get that much back out of your Bose unit.

Adding a Bose setup to an S-10 won't be a worthwhile endeavor. It'll be very expensive and you'd be far better off spending money on good aftermarket speakers and/or an amp.

Yea, what he said.

Really, you can go to Walmart and get a head for the same price as a used OEM and be MUCH happier with it. Harnesses, mounting adapters, everything.

Trust me, if you spend any money on a Bose system you will find yourself greatly disappointed.
