Radiator Leak

The 99 Z71 has a leak at the driver side tank to core where the two mate. If this was the old brass radiator I would pull it and take it to the shop to get the seam resoldered... haven't dealt with the plastic/alum radiators before. I know it can be done but what has been the success rate of repairing these types of radiators? The rig has only 62k on it... my 94 'Burb has 130k and has never been touched. New radiator is around $400 and I would imagine a repair would be less than $100. I am leaning towards repair but if the repair success on these types of radiotors is poor then I may just opt for the new.

 

Any thoughts?? I already did a forum search and did not find much.

I don't even know of anyone that would attempt a repair on the new plastic jobs. You gotta get a new one.

I had 1 fixed on a 95 454 with 110000 on it. It now has over 150000 on it

and is fine. It cost $67.00 for the tank and $35.00 labor.

Where are you located? i don't think anyone will mess with them her in the FL Panhandle.

Local radiator shop was going to charge around $150 to repair the radiator (new tank)... I bought a new radiator for $225.
