Intermittant 4x4 Operation

Hi folks, I have a 1994 S10 Blazer with a 4.3L V6 and 700 r4 tranny. I am having an intermittant 4WD engagement problem. It seems as though every 3 weeks I cannot go into 4 HI at any speed or in park. It goes into 4 LO ok though. I probed the computer and got a Diagnostic code of 2 which according to the manual means that the encoder switch went to a position it should'nt have. I cleared the code and it was fine for approx another 3 weeks. Then last week it happened after 1 week. Anyone have this problem?

I have this problem as well. I'm not sure how to correct it either, but it gets annoying when i need my 4h. Hopefully someone has a fix for this?

I just bit the bullet and bought a reconditioned transfer case shift motor / selector from Rock Auto. It's been in for about 2 months now and all seems fine.

I did some digging on this problem and there was a recall for the shift motor on these vehicles and mine was done with the previous owner but it still had the problem.
