Drain plug sealing washer

Is there a sealing washer on the drain plug that needs to be replaced with each oil change? The engine is a 5.3.

Also, do I need to hit the zerks at every oil change? Does the dealer?

Thanks,

Tom

The drain should have a gasket on it that will only need to be replaced when it starts to look brittle, or every couple years, whichever you feel comfortable with.

The grease fittings have to be greased every oil change, and more often if you are waiting for the Oil Life Monitor system to tell you when to change the oil. Our dealership DOES grease them every oil change.

Hope this helps.

I follow the OLM but I grease my zerks at 6K when I rotate the tires. Be very careful not to over grease them or you'll bust the seal and allow contamination.

There's no sealing washer that requires replacement every oil change. FYI: Read GM's March 2005 Techlink, there are cars that are using them now.

I grease the zerks every tire rotation. Only way to get to most of them is to remove the tires anyway.
