Service 4x4

While driving home yesterday, I took a hard right turn kinda fast and the "Service 4x4" message appeared - also the indicator light that showed I was currently in 2wd turned off (likely disabled) --- I turned the vehicle off and restarted it and everything seems fine - Is this just a one time deal or do I need to take it in :fume:

Taco,

I experienced the same thing and the guys here led me to the fix. The switch has some cold solder joints on the connector in the switch. I removed my switch and carefully pryed apart. I resoldered the connecter and have not had a problem since. Since it is a cold solder joint, removing the switch and replacing may fix the problem as it causes the connector to move and get continuity, but the real fix is to resolder it. Simple job, but would watch the heat if you are using a soldering gun. They can do damage to the circuit board by causing the copper to lift. I used a small soldering iron that does not generate as much heat as a gun.

Hope this helps.

Yep, mine did the same thing. I resoldered the connections inside the switch module and it hasn't done it since.
