GM Oil Life System (GMOLS)

Since the GMOLS uses an algorithm based on engine revolutions and temp to measure oil degradation -

 

Will changing the grade of oil (say to Royal Purple which I was considering) make the "Oil Life Percentage" incorrect? Or since the new synthetic oil may help generate less heat, will the GMOLS remain fairly accurate?

The OLM assumes you're using a conventional oil. Using a 5-30 or 10-30 will make no difference on how it operates. Either will using a synthetic oil.

Yep,I can't see how running synthetic oil would make any difference.
