I'm guessing for brightness...but its just my guess.

I think they are double filiment bulbs so that they can use one bulb for all the locations. Like my Bravada has double filiment bulbs in all of the stoplights, turnsignals, reverse lights and also the cornor illuminator light on the side of the front bumper. So maybe to cut cost they just purchase the same bulb for everything.

I thought that the parking lamps were flahsed with the door locks. The roof marker lamps always flashed with the door locks on my 02. Unless they changed when GM changed the front end. Otherwise I would chalk it up to more "value" engineering from the penny pinchers.

It is for simplicity's sake alone. The taillights use the same bulb in all the locations, even though not all of them need to be dual element.

To me that is real "value" in engineering.

What would be the point of them being different bulbs?

Sorry,Didn't mean to throw a wrench in the works.

The 4114K is the newest bulb and we have been using it here for the last couple of years as per the GM bulletin.

The old number was 4157K.
