1234 Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 Changed the fuel pump on my 97 c/k 1500 4.3 and a month later it started to stall and then kill. I pulled the fuel pump relay and saw that the socket for terminal 30 (on relay) was melted. I replaced the relay and it runs better but it is stating to stall again. Does the relay power the fuel pump all the time or just for 5 secs. before starting.
GM-Tech Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 Does the relay power the fuel pump all the time or just for 5 secs. before starting. All the time, but the oil pressure switch supplies backup power, so once the engine is running, i.e. you have oil pressure, you should be able to pull the relay out and it would continue to run.
