Will the rear receiver hitch off an avalanch fit a Sierra 1500. I don't think it matters but mine is an 03 sierra and the hitch I want to get is off an 02 ava. I can't find the part numbers so I'm at a loss. Here's the hitch And what about the wiring harness also. Mr. :chevy: thanks you in advance.

Absolutely. Don't know about wiring. You might be able to get a better price (and no shipping!) at a junk-yard.

By the way, the GM hitch is junk:

If you're buying anyway, why not go aftermarket for a better product?

The part numbers are different for the Sierra/Siverado Pickup hitch and the Avalance/Suburban SUV hitch so I'm guessing it will not work. But the only way to tell for sure is to try it.

Heres all the part numbers and applications:

12498497-Tahoe/Suburban/Avalance/Yukon/Yukon XL/Escalade

12498301-Silverado/Sierra "Light-Duty" Pickups (Long or Short Bed)

12497968-Silverado HD/Sierra HD Short-Bed Pickups

12497969-Silverado HD/Sierra HD Long-Bed Pickups

If your truck is an '03,The wiring is already back there,All you need is the receptacle with door,The end is there already (Either wrapped up in the end of the LH frame rail or around the spare tire) It has a little black plastic dust cover on it,All you do is remove the dust cover and plug it into the receptacle.

If you get the GM Accessories hitch it gives you everything you need including the receptacle.
