My new wheel bearings/hub rotors and pads.

I've had my 1996 4X4 GMC 3/4 ton now for almost 2 years. I've been feeling for a couple of months what I believed to be warped rotors. You know that feeling when you slow down and you feel like your driving with a person who is just learning to drive a stick? Forward and back, forward and back, forward and ....well you get it. Anyway, after 2 times of getting the wrong rotor from the shop, I finally got what I needed. I didn't have any idea that I would have to take the whole hub out, but I learned that I did cause the dang thing wasn't coming off without it. Well, I took the hub and rotors down to the shop to have them all pressed together. When I got there the owner checked them out for me and told me that one of my wheel bearings was shot. I went back and looked and sure enough...TOASTED.

Well now my warped rotor wasn't maybe so warped. I didn't even bother having him check it. I was already planning on replacing them. So off we go to find out how much a bearing is. Surprise... you have to buy the whole hub. So I did and $610 later I was on my home with my new hub/bearing assembly, new rotors, and new heavy duty bendix brake pads that have a one time free replacement (2 pads for the price of one).

What's the point? Well, I guess this. I was surprised at the cost but ecstatic about the change in the ride. I have to assume that the wheel bearing was most of my problem, but the truck has never riden so nice. I can't even describe it. Just thought I'd share my expericence of replacing my first 4X4 rotor (and hub/wheel bearing too).

How much were the bearings/hub parts? I know it is a sealed unit but didn't know you had to buy parts as a unit. I did the rotor and brakes a year ago.
